You know when a book is so delicious you savour it in bites, page by page? These Precious Days by Ann Patchett is one of those books.
Every night when I went to bed, I felt like I had a box of perfectly crafted chocolates waiting for me, and I got to choose one to enjoy. Ann Patchett is an extraordinary writer, and these essays lived up to my expectations – and exceeded them. Which (honestly) doesn’t happen often.
Stories of daily life and loss and grief and love and enjoying the little things and COVID and lockdown and reading – oh! Her deep pleasure for reading. I could not love it more.
I snatched up this copy as soon as I saw it at the @booklounge and I recommend you do the same… It is rare to be invited into the mind and heart of someone as thoughtful and articulate as Ann Patchett. Let’s not take it for granted.
