Can I tell you what an extraordinary feeling it is to be friends with someone since the beginning of high school, and for them to be such a fabulous and talented artist that Norval asks them to do a solo show?
Yes, it’s true that Georgina Gratrix paints beautiful pictures. But it’s even more true that she works so.damn.hard. All through our teens, 20s and 30s she has been making art, consistently, all the time. And while I’m still hanging onto the teen sketches in the hopes that they’ll one day sell for millions, I am mainly just so impressed that George has stuck with it, every day, for years.
It is such a joy to see her succeed! If you’re in Cape Town, do yourself a favour and go to her beautiful show. I’ll be going back!
