Nervous system reset

It was a long weekend of nervous system reset…

I needed it, after the shock of last week and the ongoing strain of someone I love having terminal cancer, and how that feeds into most aspects of life.

So this weekend, we went slow. I gardened as long as I wanted to (my idea of bliss!), slept 9 hours a night, hung out with my lovely kids and my lovely husband, watched excellent TV, ate heart shaped purple pancakes with dragon fruit (as you do) and finally ticked off pretty much all the DIY on our To Do List.

Including this frankly EXQUISITE cloud shaped blackboard that my genius of a husband made to cover the electricity box that has irritated me for years.

Now we not only have a giant shopping list but a big canvas for any family member to write a message on (my daughter decided YAY 💗 was the appropriate first message, and I feel so seen!)

So often (it seems to me), the beauty is in the tiny little details. The beautiful ordinary. The slices of joy and glimmers that are so minor they can be easy to miss. I’m grateful to have slowed down enough to see them ✨
