Humans are so weird. Consistently.
I know this, and yet I’m still surprised when I act like a weird human.
We haven’t had water all weekend (a complicated burst water pipe that everyone is doing their best to fix) and I need a shower like the deserts need the rain. We’re lucky to have a water pump, so our dishwasher and toilets still run, but I’ve been gardening all weekend and I long to be clean.
I decided that if the water was still not fixed by 4pm, I’d heat up pump water in pots and have a Victorian bath. I duly switched on the pump at 4pm and…. Nothing. No water.
All of a sudden, my mingy little shallow bath seemed an unimagined luxury, impossible to attain (the wild storm raging means that popping to a friend’s house for a shower isn’t an option).
And then! Oh happy day! We discovered that the pump handle had just been switched off, and my Victorian bath is back on the cards! I’m heating water on the stove as we speak and can’t *wait* for my one inch bath.
Perspective, friends. It’s all perspective.
I know this! And yet I’m caught up, time and again. The teeniest little things can offer joy. Keep your desires within your means, and life unfolds beautifully.
Let’s hope the lesson lingers this week!
