*Wake-up call*.
One of my dearest friends came for tea last night and had a head-on collision on the way home. Her car is totalled. She is fine (thank God). The driver who drove into her is also fine, but was either drunk or high or both….
I keep thinking of how I would feel in her place. And how I would have felt if, instead of tea, we’d had a glass of wine. I’ve driven plenty of times after a glass of wine (not more than one, but one). And the truth is that’s fine! Most of the time… But not if there’s a drunk driver heading straight for you and you need your reaction time as sharp as possible.
So that’s it for me. I’m erasing the grey and going black and white when it comes to alcohol and driving. I know many people have done this before, but legally in South Africa we’re allowed one drink and that can easily lead to a grey zone…
Not any more.
What about you? What do you think?
Feeling so grateful that my precious friend is okay and that this was a wake-up call and not the real thing.
