Digital detox

digital detox

A week back from holiday, and I’m trying – as always – to bring more holiday vibes into daily life… Something of a digital detox.

I’ve done pretty well on the walking every day front, I’ve remembered I’m allergic of rushing, I finally watched Coda last night (which is just as exquisite as I was told it was) and I’ve just about formulated a new theory that I think will keep me from randomly picking up my phone…

When I was on holiday, my phone was on airplane mode pretty much the whole time. WhatsApp and Instagram were not priorities. But while I’m very good at putting aside my phone while I work, I find myself reaching for it after work – just to check.

Check what, though?

I think it’s linked to the fact that when you’re thirsty, you crave something sweet (have you heard this?) What your body really wants is a long cool drink of water, but instead you crave sweetness… a glass of water releases the craving.

Similarly, what if that craving to pick up my phone and check is actually just a thirst for stillness? What if what I want is a long, deep breath to still my mind, but instead I’m reaching for the opposite?

I’m going to test it out this week and see…

For now: a blanket in front of the fire, special time with my sweeties, phone out of reach 😉
