Finding the time to write a book

Finding the time to write a book

Writing a book while holding down a full-time job and parenting two small kids is both a challenge and a privilege.

The challenge bit comes as no surprise, I’m sure… It’s all about that most precious resource: time. I’ve been waking up early to work on my book – sneaking around at 6am to quietly make a cup of tea to sip on while I write. But inevitably, one of my kids will wake up early too, and be delighted to have me to chit chat to. So sweet! So unproductive.

The privilege part is just as real for me. I feel so lucky both to have something to say, and the ability to write it down. Throw in the freedom to carve out these pockets of writing time, and the joy of being able to share it with readers in the not-too-distant future and well! It’s a cornucopia of delights. And challenges 😉

For now, time to focus on the echo words and phrases that pepper my work, and find more creative options for them. Lift your spirits… something so lovely / sweet / poignant… just… doesn’t matter… great(est) gift… so.

It’s like a weird little slices of joy poem!
Wish me luck, friends! And send tea 🫖
