This is love made visible.

One of the undeniable glimmers from this week of heartache has been the outpouring of love from friends. So many messages and so much kindness coming our way…

And for those with capacity, and who have been through this before, food.

The friends who dropped off groceries so I didn’t have to go to the shops for bread and milk. The friends who baked our favourite treats so there’d be some sweetness in these hard days. The friend who sent frozen meals so I wouldn’t have to think about dinner. The friend who sent delicious treats and hand cream and a colouring book to add some surprise to our day. The friend who sent dinner and a little Lego set which filled the kids with delight.

These early days of grief are both familiar and exhausting, and the relief of not having to face going to the shops and meal planning is immense.

Real life will return soon enough, but I will put it off as long as I can… with a little help from my friends.
