I’m lucky enough to have spent the last decade (plus!) living in the same city as my three older brothers.
I’m even luckier to count them among my favourite people in the world. Last year we hiked the Pondo trail together after we packed up our childhood home, which was so beautiful and meaningful and wild and wonderful.
Now one of the three is flying the nest and emigrating (but only for an amazing job opportunity! They’ll be back one day, thank heavens). We spent the weekend doing a sibling hike on the Boesmanskloof trail from Greyton to McGregor and back, and it was beautiful and meaningful and wild and wonderful – the Cape version this time 😉
There is something so special about hours spent walking alongside someone you love… So much time to talk through all the things and make new running jokes (so many new running jokes!) and walk in silence and snack and laugh and connect.
I loved it. I was shattered on Monday, but I loved it!
Glimmer after glimmer after glimmer on the trail: the many different flowers, the views, the waterfall swim, the dried mango, laughing till I couldn’t breathe, making it to the top of the mountain (again and again).
A whole heaping platter of slices of joy. Until the next one!
