This Time Tomorrow

I don’t want to say this is the best book I’ve read all year because that sets up an unfair expectation. But…

This is the best book I’ve read all year. You know when you find yourself smiling at the pages while you read because they’re so beautifully written? I did that.

On the surface, the précis sounds a little been-there-done-that: – somewhat-dissatisfied woman whose father is in hospital and who isn’t sure she made the right life decisions on the eve of her 40th birthday wakes up in her 16-year-old body and life.

But oh! The beauty with which this story is told… And the beauty with which the father-daughter relationship is explored. And the slow burn / deep ache of watching someone you love age and weaken. It is art in written form.

And it’s changed the way I’m looking at the everyday overwhelm: how lucky am I to be experiencing this particular life with these particular slices of joy and these eyes to notice all the glimmers? Very lucky indeed.

Please read it so we can discuss! Or if you’ve read it let me know what you think? I’m so sad it’s finished…
