We bring our whole selves to work

we bring our whole selves to work.

I am reminded – again and always and how could I ever forget? – that we bring our whole selves to work.

The me that I’ve brought to work this last month has been trying her best. But that best is deeply influenced by the intense personal pressures of a sick father and family responsibilities and young kids and the upheaval of moving to a new home and renovations and trying to juggle so. many. things.

It’s the same during grief: you bring your whole self to work and try your best, but that best is imbued with sadness and exhaustion and the myriad emotions that come when you lose someone you love.

What point am I trying to make? Why does this matter?

I always come back to the advice to *always be a little kinder than necessary*. You never know what someone else is living through today…

What about you? How are you today?
