I got a new phone! And after looking at the sealed box for 36 hours, I opened it… (is this just me? I need to warm up to new devices before I can even think of opening them).
Last night, though, I realized that I needed to transfer all the voice notes I still had from my mom so that I didn’t lose them (imagine that? It would be the worst…)
And oh my goodness it was so sad. It was like reading a friendship love story between a mom and daughter, in reverse. “I really miss having a mom,” I told my husband.
“I know,” he replied.
Grief, hey? It can turn even something as innocuous and exciting as a new phone into a lesson in sadness.
A lesson in sadness
