I love Christmas. Love love love it.
I love Christmas movies with the kids (Klaus, The Grinch, Elf, Spirited) and festive rom coms, no matter how foolish.
I love listening to our Christmas playlist on repeat.
I love our annual McNulty Christmas cake competition.
And our annual water pistol fight.
Waking up at 6am for stockings and to see what Santa brought the kids. Eating too much chocolate and then eating mango on pancakes for breakfast and then feasting with the whole extended family.
I don’t love that Christmas makes me miss my mom terribly. Her absolute favourite thing was all of us together for the holidays, and I have missed her fiercely this year – more than usual because I have needed a mom more than usual this year.
To all those grieving while also celebrating: I see you. I’m with you. It’s a beautiful difficult time of year ❤️
